How to care for a Guzmania minor?

I have this guzmania for about 6 weeks. On the day of purchase I transplanted her to semi-hydro (glass vase filled with clay pellets) and she is doing great since then. Actually there is no change at all, but that's good, right?
So my questions are, should I put water in the rosette? Because the flower is sitting right there and I don't want it to rot. And can I use the 'general' A+B hydro fertilizer which I use for the other plants or go for bromeliad food?
Is it going to die and grow a pup?
Mostly I just spray the pellets with water to keep them moist, because these are airplants so no need to actual watering right?
Thats a lot of questions but I managed to kill my beautiful Aechmea so I don't want to do any harm to this plant.
