Well, it's variegated, Stan, but it's not B. nutans. I believe this is a form of B. pyramidalis which goes under the name of Esperanza. Can anyone back me up on that?

Yes! That's it. pyramidalis. I forgot. I have had this clump since the late 70's. Gave some away,lost some in 1992 big freeze.

All I can say is that many of my plants across the spectrum are blooming or doing other interesting things ,plus I have been posting plants around town doing the same..I better slow up..when I start getting things backwards.It's not even a matter of looking it up-I was SURE it was nutans,etc..oh boy.
I will try harder....

Would some one please explain the difference of 'Esperanza' and 'Foster's Striate' syn. striata?

Below is a (not very good) pic. of what I believe to be a plant of Bil. Foster's striate grown very hard, and the flowers appear to be darker in colour than the ones shown in the above pic's.

Foster's Striate-- that's the name I was trying to remember, but it didn't come up when I checked FCBS. I'm not seeing a big difference between that and Esperanza. Any color differences could be attributable to lighting or flash, so it wouldn't surprise me if they were two names for the same cv. Anybody have both?

Can someone please tell me if this is Bil nutans variegata? I've had it for quite a while but never knew the name of it.

The flower is similar to Bil. nutans although the one in the pic.,is a pretty poxy specimen as it just popped up possibly a "shock reaction" after the plant was moved to a new location. (Please excuse the bird droppings)

If grown in strong light, the foliage also gets a pinkish edge to the leaves.
