Stan, are those not rather T. bergeri? And your question, I like 3 large clumps better than one huge one - it means the 'show' is spread out a bit and not just one over powering one.

And about aeranthos and bergeri, for me, the aeranthos flower dutifully year after year, but bergeri never. It seems to grow better and form huge clumps for me, maybe just because I ignore them cause they don't flower. But I read that bergeri needs temps down to 5 degrees C or lower to bring them into flower. I even had a small bunch sleeping in my fridge (2 degrees) every night for 2 weeks on end last Winter, still no flowers!

Don't worry Japie, Stan's got the same affliction I've got. 30 years and I STILL get the two names mixed up. I think I'm genetically pre-disposed to do it!
Bergeri doesn't seem to produce the quantity of blooms that aeranthos does but the quality is no less. Nice plant Stan.

Gonzer, I still get a LOT of Tillandsia names mixed up, I am maybe just a bit hypersensitive of the difference between aeranthos and bergeri because I do like the flower of bergeri very much and I am jealous because mine does NOT flower!!

Ha ha, and when I was so excited to correct you on your post Gonzer (sorry), it was because I was proud that I even knew the names of ANY tillandsia! And sorry Japie, I know the names of these two as they are both reliable bloomers for me.

I think I do have those....just today I noticed a seperate clump with reddish bloom(still folded)now just to wait and see.
The leaves and form-hardly any difference from bergeri. A smidgeon less in size?-maybe.

Aeranthos has slightly darker leaves when grown in strong light/sun. Otherwise Stan, in their non-blooming state they're virtually identical.
