They do indeedy look like snail eggs unless you've got giant salamanders nearby.

Thanks for the quick response.

Down here we have the common garden snail which only seems to harm very tiny seedlings, as does the normal garden slug.

We do have another larger slug which is about 3"-4" long, commonly called the Leopard Slug because it is spotted. I have often seen these in the boxes on the damp peat between the small pots, but have never witnessed any damage from them. So as long as they don't harm my plants, I won't harm them.

Although I've never seen these eggs before, from what you say, it now looks like they are probably eggs from the Leopard Slug.

Anyone else have anything to add?

Having never seen slug eggs before I assumed they must be some sort of amphibian egg. But then again wouldn't those be laid in some amount of standing water?

Maybe you should grow some out and see what you get :)
