It's very hard to ID anything without first seeing it.

To post pictures/photos online you firstly need to host them somewhere. I recommend you use photobucket.

Photobucket is FREE and easy to navigate.

Once you have uploaded your photos you need to COPY and PASTE the HTML code text which should look like this as an example.

Matt it is darn near impossible and I did upload the photos but got frustrated tyrying to get the HTML code. I may have to use photobucket.

Your link didn't work, but I c&peed the second http line, and your photo did come up.
As suspected by your written description, and confirmed by your photo, I'm confident that your bromeliad is the hybrid Aechmea 'Burgundy'. It is a tough one, and I'm not surprised it survived your freezing conditions. Mine were damaged, but did survive a freak frost of 17 degrees Fahrenheit.

This hybrid is an oldie but a goodie. The leaves will be discoloured, as you describe, if grown in shade. They will turn a brighter red-burgundy on both sides of leaves if grown in almost full sun.
