If you can get a close up photo of the inflorescence, that would be helpful. My first inclination is that it's a variety of Billbergia amoena.

Either Bill. amoena rubra or amoena 'Ed McWilliams', they're very similar-looking.

Now I'm sure Bob or Gonzer will come along and show their pics of plants labeled amoena rubra that look very different (yes, we've had this discussion before), but since I got mine from Don Beadle, who knows his stuff and is very meticulous about names, I'm not gonna run out and change my tags, so there! :-p

Yeah, that second picture looks like my amoena rubra. Ed McWilliams tends to be a bit more open. It's also a bit more delicate, as far as leaves flopping, curling, or turning brown. The flower is also not as full, so I think your first one could very well be that. When grown in bright light, however, the color will be even more intense than a. rubra. They're both quite stoloniferous, so tree mounting works well.
