I'm looking for a Lytocarium palm photo in my old files and found this from the Berkeley Botanical Garden. I thought I better post before I move on...my old cheap camera pic.

| Absolutely gorgeous! Does anyone know the trick to getting them to strike? I was generously given one, but had no luck. I let it callous for a couple of days, put it in a damp sandy mix, tried it in shade, tried it in bright light, tried it moister, and lastly tried it dry. Its dead now! I understand why no one wants to part with them! B_A |

| Yes, I have one with 3 heads given by my friend many months ago. I plant it in sandy soil but there is no sign of growth. I think it' one of Broms difficult to keep around. Cheers Yong |

| Hi Guys These are a great looking plant, I now have the red flowering Deuterocohnia lotteae, they do like to be fed with both slow release & liquid fertiliser often. Pinkbroms |

| I don't think I will be around to see mine grow like that. I have one with about 12 heads in a hanging pot that gets morning light and give it a dunking weekly. |

| The one at the Ruth Bancroft garden is as large or larger and in a different way-it's growing mostly over one large boulder(as i recall),you cant help but run your hand over its spineyness. |
