Vr. Nova in hybridising?

Hi Paul, the main issues with this plant is that it atracts meally bug, tends to get bottom rot ,centre rot, makes narrow leaves, looses a lot of bottom leaves and seems sensitive to ph, fluctuations. It tends to pass these problems on in its hybrids, the plus side (and there are some)is that it imparts nice colours and patterns, better than straight Vr.gigantea does, but i dont use the "nova" very often as i have enough problems allready, and its more cold sensitive.whereas Vr,gigantea (formerly but correctly known as Vr.tesselata)is super tough and has NO bad traits at all,but to each their own,a good start for you would to cross "nova" with a fosteriana"rubra" or "red chestnut"
