Identify Bromiliad Please

Can any one identify this bromiliad for me? It is located in Colombia. I think it is a native species but not sure.

Yes that is Vr.ospinae ,for us here in Australia we find that to grow it well (and Variety Grubberii )we have to grow it quite moist ,standing the pot in a saucer of water is the best (well thats our experience ) Jack

Jack, I thought standing any brom. in a saucer of water was suposed to be a "no no" - I guess we learn something new every day.

I have a picture of a bromiliad that has long pricklie green leaves with bright orange lining the center of the leaf. The bloom is like white and pink velvet. The white folds the pink flowers which are edged in white. The flowers have little yellow centers. It is so beautiful; looking like a great big vanilla/strawberry ice cream cone. I would like to purchase one. I can send you the picture if needed.
