I'm inclined to think the red-flowered plant might be Tillandsia. Any photos of the flowers?

Yep I would agree Gonzer, imperialis perhaps...

Hmmm...the orange-bracted one looks like an aechmea - don't know which one, but the red-bracted one suggests either a Guzmania or Mezobromelia to me - just guessing.

Any other suggestions?

That's what I initially thought bromholic except imperialis doesn't grow in Columbia.

This is a toughie! I'm leaning towards Guzmania on both of them, but I can't find a solid match.

Check the database results (below) for Colombian Guzmanias. There are some similar looking things like maybe G. confinis or lychnis for the red one, and G. vanvolxemii for the orange one. Not quite close enough to call it, but not all of the ones listed have photos either.

You can run the search for the other genera too, just to double check.

The red one I feel is Guzmaia squarrosa (red)

The orange one, without being able to see the foliage ??? first thought was Aechmea penduliflora, but as I say without the foliage, maybe Guz. pennellii which does have a cultivar name now. Penny something, can't remember everything, will find it later.

Noteing there is a building in the background so we maybe in a garden not in the wild, so these may not necessarily have to be Columbian.

Nice plants wish I had them in my greenhouse. They are both Guzmanias.
The red one is Guz. teuscheri or possibly Guz.danielii and the orange one is Guz. multiflora.

Thanks Bob. I´m trying to find images of G. daniellii. According to one website G. teuscheri ie endemic to Ecuador and my plants are in Colombia. G. multiflora does appear to be native to both Ecuador and Colombia.
