Variegated Q. marmorata

I bought this plant from Tropiflora a couple years ago when they said they only had 6 plants available. There was some weird story that went with it...I can't recall it all, something about them having had some plants of it stolen at the World Brom Conference or some such. Anyway, I really like it. I took it our of the basket and planted it inground.

That story was true about the theft, but lots of plants were taken

Very nice! Yours looks more strongly variegated than the picture taken at Michael's, Bihai. What's it going for these days?

I don't know about now, mine is a few year old, but I think I remember it either being $60 or $75. It had 2 in the container though when i got it, and these 2 are #3 and #4.

Magnificent !!! Bihai

And...what is the little clump spiny plant at the bottom right, it looked like a miniature from of Dyckia marnier-lapostollei.

That little clump of Dyckias is D. Marnier-lapostollei v. estevesii x fosteriana x platyphylla! Isn't that a mouthful?

Bihai, explain some more about the theft you're talking about please. Sounds cryptic! Oh, and I wasn't anywhere NEAR the place when whatever happened, happened.

From what I remember (its been 2 or so years so my mind has let most of this go) Tropiflora had these plants. They had started with one (or maybe 2) and had cultivated over time about 12-15? They took 6 to one of the World Bromeliad Conferences to show, and they were stolen. Apparently someother plants were stolen as well at the same time.
So theyhad to go back and start recultivating them again. They eventually got enough so that they felt they could let 6 go (at a high price of course). I don't know about THEIRS, but mine doesn't keep plants "in the clump" as long as a regular marmorata, which seem to last forever and ever and ever. Fairly soon after a pup emerges, the main plant declines. So I have never been able to get more than 2 in my clump.
