I've found that different species/hybrids tend to flower at different times, but they can also be triggered by factors like temperature and heavy rainfall. At the moment I've only got nutans, Fascinator, Hoelscheriana and a noid amoena hybrid in flower.

Dan, there are a few Bill species that are summer bloomers, like B. pyramidalis and some of the helicoids (rosea, brasiliensis, etc.). B. nutans, on the other hand, is almost guaranteed to be blooming at Christmas (winter for us). Hybrids are often less predictable than species, depending on which species are in the mix. Most of the ones I have are more likely to bloom during winter. I do get the odd bloom going off here and there throughout the year, but I always get the biggest flush around Jan-Feb, which is our "coldest" time of year (it never gets really cold here). I often get a lesser flush around Oct-Nov too. I don't know if it's temperature or day length that triggers it.

I would normally say that most of my Bills flower in winter and spring in Brisbane; there is a good article from Nevs society on Bills explaining when they typically flower.
