One of the most unusual : Deinacanthon urbanianum

This morning, while I was in my garden, I saw a few flies flew around
one of my odd sticky brom, Deinacanthon urbanianum which I got from Tropiflora.

At first glance, I thought there was something died by the pot,
but when I looked closer, I reallized that my plant had bloomed.
Its inconspicuous flowers smells like that of Stapelia spp. (Asclepiadaceae).
I've never known before that there is a bromeliad which produces
such foul smelling flowers !

Hi Stephahia,
Your Deincanthon is the first one that I've seen,an unusual little brom.
As for the odor, If you can't lure in pollenators with your pleasent fragrance,I guess the next best thing is to stink up the place...that'll get some attention. :^)

I dig up the thread because I think of our good friend Bob (^_^)
and this morning I took some better shots when I found my plant blooming again.

Hi Chanin and everyone - Speaking of Bob, I haven't seen him posting for quite a while. I seem to remember someone saying he was in an area hit by a hurricane some time back. Has anyone seen or heard from him, is he OK?

All the best, Nev.
