Looks like a chantinii Hyb. of some sort. What color are the petals? Or possibly a streptocalyx type aechmea hyb. Best Bob

Blue Heeler, Bob & Lisa thank you so much for your comments and recommendations. I have spent a very busy morning researching your suggestions! I think Lisa is right, the reddish leaf tips are a giveaway. The photo in the CBS newsletter looks exactly like my plant, as does the one on the FCBS Index. Also there is reference on the Index to Bullis as perhaps being the hybridizer and it is not unusual, here in Florida, for the odd brom to find it's way to Lowes or Home Depot from Bullis!
