I know there was a discussion on this but I cannot seem to find it. Either way, this is a new discussion about them anyway.

The first time I grew them from store bought fruit, I was accidentally successful. Now that I have learned how to do it "correctly" not so successful...

At first, all I did was chop about 1" of fruit along with the top and stuck it in dirt. Yes, dirt. Totally from the ground just out side.

I read that one cuts it above the fruit, peels off leaves as if attacking an artichoke, sets it in water to root, then into potting mix.

Although I have had low success either way, I have had none lately Is there a recommended way? Is there a preferred time of year? Is there a ripeness of the fruit that should be chosen when I purchase it?
