Beautiful Lyndi! I can see your plants are on the way to get to those full, stacked rosettes. Enjoy your tropical climate and beautiful broms.

Hi Lyndi - It looks like a beautiful place to sit and enjoy the relaxing surroundings.
I love the paving design, it adds such a natural look as though it was there first and the garden was all built around it, or was it?
    All the best, Nev.

Hi Lyndi, what a lovely oasis to have in the hustle & bustle of Singapore. You've inspired us to come & visit you next time we're in S'pore. What are those 3 grassy plants- are they grass trees or some aloe- looks great.

    Cheers

Oh, really really nice Lyndi! You have a beautifully arranged garden of Eden there.
I've been wondering about something i.e. the way neos in tropical climes get the fantastic layered leaves effect due to lack of cold-inducing flowering - does that also mean that you have to wait a long time for pups?

    Cheers,
    Kerry

Kerry it depends on the plant, Some are slow to flower but produce pups all their lives others are slow to bloom and pup.

Wow Lyndi, what a wonderful setup for bromeliads. Just wondering what are those 3 grassy plants in the first picture that look like Festuca glauca?

Kerry, in tropical climate, like my case neoregelia doesn't need to flower in order to get pups. Very often pups will be produced and continue to grow with the mother plant until the baby and mother flower together.

    Thanks everyone for your compliments!

Nev, I used to have carpet grass under those terracotta tiles.
The carpet grass was taken over by weeds so I cover them with the tiles.

John, you are most welcome to visit me. Those are "Ruby Crystals" Grass  Melinis nerviglumis.

Kerry, like what Han said, our plants will pup without flowering but they do eventually flower. My first few plants N Aglow, Inkwell and Blackknight have not flowered after more than 2 years. I have less than 10 plants flowered so far so hybridisation is tricky.

    Hi Lyndi and all,

Very nice garden yard Lyndi. All plants look wonderful. I know that S'pore is closer to the equator than to Thailand. The weather would be hotter than mine. Do you have any problems with the weather? Is your plants under shade or full sun?

Kerry like other people said the tropical climate is suitable to Brom. Plants usually grow to very large size and show up their beauty. They are slow to flower. Lots of my plants are not bloom yet after 5 years. It is the best but also bad for getting slow to pups. The change of temperature during season usually pushes plants to bloom and pup. My Bill. wil be bloom when weather get cold during winter in December. The Meteorological Department has informed that this winter the weather will be colder than the last. Hope the weather forcast would induce my plants to bloom. Hybridisation will be on mission.

    Cheers
    Yong

    Yong, thanks!
The pinks and purples are under a green shade cloth and I have my plumeria trees around them though the trees do not provide much shade.

Beautiful, Lyndi, and I just noticed my namesake Crypt in there too! I wish we could get the beautiful red streak down the center like yours has. What's the secret?

Lisa, I just got it from Bangkok about a month ago. You can see it's very striking one. Many visitors toi my garden are impressed with it. I noticed Crypt. elaine requires some shade to retain it's colour but Crypt Liz Vinzant is not fussy about lighting condition. The area where it is, receives only some noon sun. It's planted in some coco fibre, sand and lava sand mix.

I hope this picture will give you an idea the growing condition it is in. This part of the garden is at the right angle between the covered car-porch and the house. The house faces NW and you can see the morning sun coming from the back of the house. There is no shade cloth above it but I have a few taller plants like Musa, Plumerias and Alocasias which provide some shade at different time of the day. The car-porch is always hot from the afternoon sun and the heated engines of the cars.

Mary Jane, we get rain every other day for the last 2 years, the weather has gone haywire. Many of my adeniums and plumerias have suffered root rots. Other tropicals plants like the musa and heliconias love it though.

Oh someone pinch me and make sure I'm not dreaming! YOur plants are sooooooo Beautiful, I'm speechless. To think you said you've only been collectiong them for two years.

I have just started collectiong a couple of the CHEAPER bromeliads. I fell in love with them after seeing all the different ones people had posted pictures of on here.

I just ordered 6 off the internet this past week. I can't wait to get them and get them started here in THE PINEY WOODS OF EAST TEXAS. I also picked up 6 small ones at the local grocery store.

Just seeing your collection and hearing that you have only been growing them for a couple of years is very encouraging to me. Maybe sometime in the future I'll have a nice assortment of broms to put in the gardens and trees.

I must concur with everyone else your brick work and grass just put the finishing touches to a breath taking garden.

Thanks so much for sharing with all of us and inspiring me to do a nice brom garden too.

Drooling all over my keyboard just looking at how lovely your place is.

Happy Gardening from a new brom mom,
    Marian

I have incorporated a small patch of moss in the cryptanthus corner and it gives the corner a more luxurious look.
