Solid Gold

Ooookaaaay, it worked on the test page so let's see if it works here - lol.
I got Solid Gold in 2004 and it was a disappointment the first year, barely getting to 2 feet and no blooms. After wintering over in the basement it still had a case of dwindles for 2005 so was relegated to a back corner of the carden. Somewhere it had a change of heart for as I got to cutting back last fall it had had a growth spurt, y'd and even had a bud. I babied it along in a SE window and it bloomed just before christmas. It then went outside in late Apri. and gave me my first flush of the year. I like the initial color but really like how it changes to 'red-gold' over the next few days...and of course the fragrance which seems to have just a hint of spice (ginger?)

I wouldn't mind sitting under that nice canopy of blooms any evening and just 'sniffing' the fragrance in the air. Very nice!

Wow, that's a gorgeous color. Your perseverence really paid off with such a health looking plant, too.
