It's so cold!!!!!!!

Arriving back in MD in shorts and a tee shirt wasn't a smart move. It's sooooo cold here! I lost a handful of plants due to underwatering but with all the stuff I bought while away it's probably a good thing. Surpringly I didn't see any brugs anywhere besides the nurseries. I usually see a few near my Mom's house. The brugs I saw for sale were common singles just labeled by color so I didn't buy any but I got some great deals on other varieties. I also collected a lot of seeds. I'll list the seed varieties in a separate post if anybody wants any.

My son didn't destroy the house and it doesn't appear that there were any wild parties. It was the first time we've allowed him stay home alone and I must say he did a pretty good job. My only complaint was the mountain of dishes left in the kitchen. Jake informed me that he didn't know how to operate the dishwasher. Gee has he ever heard of hand washing????

Temps were pretty mild here while we were away but dropped yesterday and are in the teens and not supposed to reach freezing. I can't wait to get away again and don't really care if I lose more plants. I just can't stand this cold! We're off to the Cayman Islands in a few weeks and I just might have to go back to FL after that. lol Happy New Year : )

I can relate to everything you said - IT'S COLD here, too. The wind chill must be ZERO!

I heard it was down around 40 last night and is only supposed to be near 60 today and tomorrow but back in the 70's by Thursday. Even at 60 I'd much rather be in So FL right about now. Did you manage to get all your plants protected or did you pull a Karyn and wait until the very last minute? lol

Karyn, if you were talking to me, I begin preparing the last week of November, dragging cold-sensitive plants back into the greenhouse. When the hard cold hits, I just have a few to drag in and a few to cover. I'm too old to wait until the last minute to drag plants in.

A few days ago it was 66*- now it didn't reach 30 and the lows are supposed to be 16*! Hopefully it won't last too long, warmer temps are headed here this coming weekend! All my plants have been in for a while- I started getting them done in Nov, so the first frost didn't catch me by surprise!

Had to laugh when I saw your temps. Maybe it will comfort all of you to know that other people are colder than you. Went down to zero F here last night/this morning. Actual temp, not wind chill. I don't want to know the wind chill.
