Good morning Linda. I used to put a clear tape over it...just don't get it wet lol. Then I got a labeling machine and if the Armadillo leaves them alone in the ground....which I will not do anymore lol...then I get less NOIDs.

In the house I have Precious, my kitty. Who loves to chew the tags to pieces and am getting that way lots of NOIDs :-(

Good morning Linda. Invariably, we all lose name tags on our plants. I've used the mini-blinds, but find that I must also write the name on the stem with a marker because the plastic disintegrates in time. When I first plant cuttings in those clear plastic cups, I also write the name on the cup itself. One needs to go over the writing every few months as it will fade away. I've used Popsicle sticks and aluminum strips (from soda cans) where I etched the name, to i.d. a plant.

Hi Linda. Cold is cold and it all sucks! I have ventured out of my house as little as possible the past week. Even going to the mailbox is miserable. lol

I have a problem with pencil on mini blinds because the surface is so smooth that the pencil's hard to read. I use marker on blinds and still manage to either lose them or they fade. I'm just stuck with a whole bunch of NOIDs. You can wait until they bloom and ID them that way if there's something distinctive about the flower. Say you only have 1 unlabeled pink or something like that. I have very few that I trust IDing after I've lost the tag and just call them NOIDs.

I used to have a book with the "real" names of all my plants, and then I put clues to myself, like: brug from trade planted over by the storage shed. That worked until here were a few dozen over by the storage shed!! Then the house burned up and so did my species list.

Over the years I've tried metal tags, plastic tags, wooden tags, mini-blinds, writing on the plant with sharpie....the only thing that still has a tag I can read is a rose, I bought the tag at a rose shop, it's like a name tag, solid background and lighter colored letters.

A few I remember though I can never remember if that's frosty or Ecuador pink so if I send cuttings of one, I send them both! Frosty is on one side of the bed and Ecuador on the other.
