Not much except caterpillars bother brugs that are outside during the growing season. Spider mites and aphids are normally just an issue inside or in a greenhouse. You can try Neem or one of the insecticidal soaps. I control infestations on most plants with a strong blast of water from a hose. The only thing I treat with an insecticide are Broad mites. For those I use Forbid and/or Fluromite which are miticides and only effective against mites and white fly.

I sprayed mine with Dawn dish soap and water and they look great now. They were covered with white flies. I have used this with some Real Lemon extract mixed in and that took care of the spider mites, which I haven't had yet this year. All non toxic.

Thank-you, one and all, for answering some of muy questions. I hate to use anything that will leave a toxic residue on any surface....I always worry about my dog, and other animals getting sick, or, worse. I also worry about me breathing in these chemicals.

I like the Dawn/Real Lemon combo. What dilution ratios should I use for a quart spray bottle?

Frank, I put about a teaspoon of Dawn and a skimpy tablespoon of Real Lemon in a 24 ounce spray bottle of water. It works pretty good.
