It wasn't soaking them that caused the seed to get mushy. The seed was already bad. If the others are from the same batch there's a good chance that they're already rotted as well. Hopefully you'll have some viable seeds. If not I have some extra open pollinated seeds I collected that I can send for postage. Except for a very few varieties brug seeds don't grow true anyway.

thanks for the reply karyn1! i emailed the business where i bought the seed. i'll wait and see if they reply. so, like i said, not real familiar with brugs except for a few articles i have read. are you saying that i may not actually get the fragrant peach that i sent for?

just heard a reply from the business i purchased the seeds from. he said that while it is true many brugs seeds benefit from soaking and contain a hard shelled seed, these seeds are different and rather on the softside. stated that one is better off just planting the whole seed in soil and keeping moist. he has had an 85% germination rate with these seeds.

The person you bought the seeds from sounds like he's pulling your leg. Brug seeds are brug seeds. Some might have a slightly harder seed coat but I doubt it would be enough to be noticeable. There's often a difference in size, especially the size of the corky covering. Hopefully you'll have some good seeds in the batch. Who did you buy the seeds from?

well, i try and do my research before ordering anything. i can be rather picky about that. anyway, they were from seedman.com

btw, in his reply, he did say he would replace the seeds if i didn't have any luck. so, i will just have to wait and see.
