So sad. That looks like it does here in Nov. I was speaking with a friend in West Palm and it's only in the 60's there, 30's at night. I'm hoping the temps start creeping up next week.

That's just aweful!! I feel so sorry for you!

I just read someone wrote on the orchid forum that they go out at 3 or 4 in the morning, hosing down the plants. That saves them from being frost-bitten. And it works.
Wondering if one could do that with brugs as well?
Would take a lot of "brug-love" to get up that early!

I hate to see your yard looking like that. It can only remind us that we don't control the weather. The stems should be fine just take off the wilted leaves and flowers.
You will have a headstart on next years growth.

All stems and foliage are likely toast but your plants will come back from their roots.
Welcome to the northerner's world of Brugmansia growing.

Mary, Yes I always dig up my plummies
for the winter. One year I left the
Plummies out and they all turn to Mush.

All of the NOID Brugs gets hit like this
every year but they all always bounce
    back very strong.

All of my named Brugs I have all of those
In pots and tuck away in the Garage. They
all looks very Healthy and Happy.

The good news I always have plenty of
Backup on my Brugs. I am planning on
    Going mostly all Container Gardening
This spring to protect most of my plants
From now on. This weather is just getting
    Crazy and crazier every year.

I cannot believe the Weatherman are
Using the S word for Florida This
    Weekend. YUK~~~~

Just imagine CB...if it would have come a few weeks earlier...Florida could have had a white Christmas :-)

Take lots of pictures! When we had the ice storm 3 years ago for easter...I took many...but they are gone with the end of my computer's life

Wow CB, those poor brugs! It is hard to hear that "Florida" one of the sunshine states, is getting so cold! Good planning on your part to have backups.

Northern and Central FL usually have cold temps during the winter. It's just normally for short periods of time. Being so cold for such a long time is what's unusual. It's been cold when I've gone to Jacksonville, Tampa and Orlando this time of year. We were in Disney for the millennium celebration and were desperately trying to find warm clothes. Temps were in the 20's but even that only lasted a couple days. That's why I stick to So FL in the winter and even they are having unusually cold weather now.

I feel the pain... 5th or 6th hard freeze here. We had not had a freeze in 4 years. Just have to see who is a survivor. I do have a new passion flower who likes it. Go figure.
