Hey and WELCOME!!! Yep that is normal..It bites but it happens...for me most of the ones that die back are the large cuttings and those that are not getting the light they need...A dormant state.. They should be fine come Spring..

Welcome! How long have you had Brugs? We love to hear about other people's plants.

The ends will die off some & will start growing again but it beats having to re-grow the entire plant every spring if you cut it short or it dies back to the ground.

This is the first year that I have grown brugmansia. R'cd three (two pink, one yellow) rooted cuttings from mantorville at our spring plant swap.

Both pink bloomed late but many blossoms. The yellow stayed short and had a few blooms twice during the summer.
I think this is Pink Majesty. The lower leaves have been removed and it is being moved into the house to finish blooming before going into dormancy. All leaves were stripped after bloom. This is October, 2009.

That pink is really pretty. I have cuttings from Mantorvillan (Will Lambert)growing in the den now. I hope they all turn out as a pretty tree form like yours
