Newbie Question

I brought my brugs in for the winter leaving them quit tall, 4 ft or more, but letting them go dormant and have been giving them 1 c water/month.

I notice that the top stems are dying back. Is this normal? I realize there is more than enough stem left so even if a bit dies back each month the plant will still survive with a good amount of stem for regrowth in the spring.

I also have cuttings in a water bucket that have rooted so am not worried about losing the plants.
