What kind of Banana is it? Some are hardier than others.

Hi Margaret, not that I'd know the answer to your question for your zone but is it a Musa Basjoo? I see you're in zone 7 and this musa is a hardier one that I know of. I have one to, though I abuse it by giving it just a pot to grow in, I need it to stay small and it has a black sooty mold? that grows on just the stalk, not the leaves at all.
Going to dip it in some skim milk this year, I hear that it's good for mold.

Thanks, Ladies...I have three basjoo bananas that I left
in the ground. They should be fine, however, I don't want to
take the mulch off too early.

Margaret I just pulled the mulch off of my Basjoo's.. We are in the 40's at night now.. Finally LOL..They did suffer thru some 29~30's last week and they got a tad mushy on the top but no damage..
