I honestly don't think it would keep anything besides mice out. Where were you planning on putting them? I wouldn't put them in the containers. I battle mainly mealie bugs during the winter because I don't use chemicals but once it warms up I use beneficial insects which seem to take care of everything. If it's a stubborn infestation I move the plant outside and keep hosing it down for a week or two. If you aren't opposed to insecticides you can spray or set off a bomb.
