Story of my life, I only have one that bloomed through the summer. Everybody else waits till frost is about to hit.

I have had the same problem living here in Michigan. Most disagree with me, but I do it anyway, I chalk it up as zone denial. I went to the hydronic growers store and bought some fox farms called Open sesame 0-45-19 and beastie blooms 0-50-30. I start with a small amount (1 teaspoon to a gallon of water) in March and after Mothers day I give the full dose, so that by the end of June and beginning of July I have blooms and huge healthy brugs. I will do it again this year, as last year I lost all but one to frost, because I was ill.

Thanks for the fertilizer advice. I found a seller here and will give it a try. I'm not sure of the name of this particular plant, but I had one called Cypress Gardens a few years back. It was also white but bloomed very reliably. My son keeps telling me to get rid of this one, but he gave it to me, and it's special to me. Maybe if I just finally move to a tropical environment . . .

Unfortunately many don't bloom well during high heat and humidity, which we have plenty of in the DC area, and don't really put on a show until the days get shorter and it cools down some. I'm also in MD and would say that the minority of my brugs bloom reliably during the summer. I also feed heavily with a bloom booster, with some varieties I think it definitely helps but others are just going to take their sweet time to bloom. Many of the FL growers get way more blooms even though they have the heat and humidity but I think the longer growing season has something to do with it. Emerald Frost, Day Dreams, Mango Crush, Frosty Pink & New Orleans Lady were some that bloomed well in the heat for me last year.

I'm going to try putting as many in the ground as possible this year. I think that will encourage them to grow better and bloom faster.
