Brugmansia cutting. Dried up area spreading?

Hello,

I rooted a cutting from my Brugmansia a while back. It has roots now in a pot and has a bunch of new leaves at a growing point. The distal part of the branch dried up and become wrinkled. Is that normal? What I'm worried it seems to spread. It spread past a node already. Do I cut it off? Or is it normal and won't affect the leaves that are growing. I've also seen this happen on the mother plant. You cut off a branch, and sometimes it dries up an in or two down. Thanks.

As long as you have healthy growth below the affected part of the stem I'd leave it alone. It's usually self limiting and will stop at healthy tissue. Once it stops the damaged portion of the stem will dry up completely and you can easily snap it off. If you do decide to cut the stem I'd dust the cut end with a fungicide.

Thanks for the reply. OK. I have healthy new growth below the area, so I think I'm gonna leave it alone. Why take a chance. Thanks again.
