Hi Dion Kar 333 and welcome to the brug forum! We all have brugs without names in our collections. If it didn't come with a name, it remains a "No id"- for no identification. We need to purists when it comes to the registered names of Brugs- to avoid mistaken identity. It especially matters when you set up a breeding program. Just tell your friend his brugs are noids, and to enjoy them!

That could be an option... except that they wanted the identification specifically because they are setting up a breeding program and they were considering using the plant for its fast growth and it flower shape/color. Which is the reason why I posted this message. Thanks for taking the time to answer though! :)

He could still use it in his breeding program for it's desirable characteristics, but if he doesn't have its'name, he should list it as an unknown parent. Here's a brug name list, for example, and quite a few that are mentioned don't list the parentage. http://ibrugs.com/ibrugs%20namelist.htm

Ah, that certainly does help. I suppose I can just tell him to suck it up and if he likes it, he should use it. He is just a little bit OCD, hence the whole identification craze, but he may change his mind after seeing that extensive list. Thanks very much!

I guess I am OCD too- I label everything 3x- I write on the stem, put a loop label on it, and stick a label in the pot! LOL!

As a full time Brugmansia breeder, I need the best organized and most efficient method of researching Brug parentage. BGI has a stellar, searchable database that offers many different approaches to searching. I don't really have time to page through fine print, so I just type in names and my information is available instantly.

Additional information: I want to say that this brug I gave to my friend is either Dr. Seuss or Andrew's Gold.... but Dr/ Seuss seems out of the picture because the tree I took cuttings from lacked any strong smell. The flower position was definitely full pendant, not simply nodding. The leaves didnt get much bigger than 8 or 10 inches.
