My first bloom

I can see why brugs become so addictive. I've been running outside every few hours waiting for my first bloom to open up. I didn't even have to get near the plant to know it was open, the smell is wonderful.

The only thing I question is if it's actually an orange, looks yellow to me, but I'm still thrilled with it.

Beautiful bloom and you are right about the smell, it's intoxicating. I wish I could bottle it up and sell it as a perfume.

Do you know what variety this one is? I have a number of them that open yellow and turn orange over a couple of days. Give it time and you may be surprised. Beautiful growing!

Aw bless I can tell you are so proud. That is sooooo lovely. Ive just got a couple this year for the first time. Dont suppose I will see any flowers till nxt year, but Im addicted to just checking how their leaves are getting on

That's really pretty! I used to have one that was so fragrant that in the evenings, the scent would even go over my house, and I could smell it in my back yard - and it was planted in the front! It froze, though, and the replacement isn't that large yet.

Averil, don't be surprised if you see some blooms this year. They bloom very small. I've seen them blooming in 6" pots in nurseries.

That is really beautiful and lovely pics you have taken. I have my first ever brug in the greenhouse and it has forked so i am hoping (fingers crossed) to get a bloom this year

Beautiful! :-) sorry new here and was just browsing thru all the lovely photos and am astonished at the beauty of these flowers! Is it a vine, tree or a bush?? I have to have one!!

This is a shrub that can get about 10-12' tall in a warm climate. The blooms are about a foot long and the smell is exquisite, especially in the evening. They can be grown in pots but need a lot of water and fertilizer if you do that, and they won't get nearly as large as plants grown in the ground.

I'm about to have my first blooms open and am leaving on vacation tomorrow for 5 days. AAAUUURGGGGHHHH! I do so hope they haven't dried up by the time I return. :0:
