6ft Brug will it flower?

Hi,

This is my first year growing a Brug. I bought it at a plant sale it was just labeled yellow angel trumpet. I was really excited to read all the posts on this forum and find out how to grow them. When I planted it, it was about 16 inches tall with a little side shoot or perhaps another plant coming out at the base.

I have been watering regularly. It's in a bed with other tropicals colocasias and cannas. It gets morning sun and afternoon shade. I am organic gardener and have been feeding it with fish emulsion, ucgs, bat guano high in phosphorous.

But no blooms, no Y, no uneven leaves, and no branching out and it's 6 ft tall!

Will it ever bloom? any advice? Are there some varieties that get this big and I still have to wait years for blooms?

Welcome weebay to the Brug forum, I live in Z6b also, it should Bloom for you, I have Naughty Nick it's over 6ft & has just got Buds on it, last year it just kept getting tall never did Bloom, with the heat sometimes you have Buds drop, I have just started watering mine everyday too get more Blooms, sounds like you're doing everything right

How often are you feeding it? You might want to make a compost tea and use that at every watering. Eventually you'll get blooms. I have one that's about 10' and hasn't bloomed yet this season.

Thanks for the responses.
I have been feeding it probably about every 2 weeks. Maybe I should step it up to once a week? It probably wouldn't hurt the cannas and colocasias around it.
10feet tall! That is great. I just wasn't sure how big some of them could get, when I've looked at photos on here most of them looked shorter than that so I wasn't sure if something was going wrong.

Most brugs are shorter, about 5-8'. That 10' one is kind of unusual, especially because it's in a container. Inground brugs usually get taller then container grown plants. Brugs grown in frost free climates can get to be tree size.
