How the heck did you find that??? What kind of bush is the nest in? I keep hoping that I can find one but didn't know what to look for. What a nice suprise for you!

What a wonderful pic. I've never seen a hummer nest in the wild, just at Butterfly World. I had no idea where they built their nests and never thought it would be in a big tree. What are they made from? It almost looks like it's covered in lichens.

That's the coolest Kylie! I have hummers here from May through September, females hang around all summer so I know they nest here, but do you think I could ever find a nest? Not a chance! They come to feed at my feeders and flowers without a word as to where the family is. You did REAL good!

Thanks!! I was shocked it is it so close to the house in a high traffic area.. Doesn't seem to bother her tho..LOL I have found others but never at the house..

That is so cute Kylie! What a wonderful treat for all of us to see that. Guess they build where ever they can. My mom had my brother cut a branch from a tall shrub that had grown towards the porch and front door -- highly trafficked. After my brother cut the branch, mom found a hummingbird nest with eggs. She felt so bad and they tried taping the branch back on, but I forgot to ask if the mama ever came back.

I did that one Fall after migration.. they always come back to the same nest.. I went back out and wired it back.. Not sure if they ever used it again but I felt so bad...
