It looks like a healthy plant. Usually you can tell if it needs repotting when there's roots growing out of the drainage holes and sometimes you can tell from the surface if it feels like a solid block with no loose soil.

Guess when I moved the picture into a different folder it caused the link to be bad.

Here's a pic of one of the seed pods on my dat. I ended up with 4 pods as 3 fell off after a storm. Even the pods grow at a seriously fast pace!

You must have the same tiny black beetles on your dats that I have. I get them on eggplants too but none of the other solanums. That pod has a ways to go before it's ripe but it will definitely ripen before your first frost. You'll notice that the pod will begin to separate kind of along the seams at the top and it will also soften when ripe. It doesn't dry and split along nice clean lines like a D. tatula pod does.
