Super Thrive! And some bloom picts.

Well, I bought a bottle a month ago, & stashed it under the kitchen sink. I forgot about it, until I accidently snapped off one of my favorite brug seedlings' only stem. The stem & few leaves on it were already wilting and drying up. I soaked the little 4 inch plant in a bowl of water, & it immediately started to rot because it was a green tip. I remembered the Super Thrive, and filled a small bowl with water and a few drops of the stuff, and soaked the pitiful remains of my sad little brug baby. I left it in there an hour or so, & I couldn't believe my eyes! It started to revive! I kept dunking the leaves in and out throughout the day, and you can see the results. I'm only sorry that I didn't take a photo before the treatment. Now I'm sold on it! I filled a 1 qt empty windex bottle with water and a few drops of it and went out & sprayed my 90 brug plants this evening. Here's some photos I want to share with you.

I guess I better quit killing the clusters of assasin bugs that I have been finding on my rose of sharons. maybe move some to the other plants?

I did the same thing last year- I followed a whole family of these all summer, they were very interesting, and they took care of each other and moved from plant to plant. Finally, I sprayed them fearing that they were bad bugs, only to find out this year that they are beneficials. Now before I reach for my Sevin, I grab my camera, take a shot, & go online to look it up. I want to let Nature keep things in balance, without trying to interfere too much.

I love ST and think it's great for rooting, transplanting and reducing stress.

The brugs look great and I love the yellow dat.

Those look an awful lot like the leaf footed bug nymph. I had them on my plants and thought they were assassin bugs but couldn't figure out why they weren't going after the aphids and did a bit more research and found their true identity. Out they went!

I read on other forums that SuperThrive is pretty much molasses with B1 mixed in. ST can get expensive...I don't have B1, but I have been using a molasses mixture as a foliar feed(and a little in the soil as well), and the plants seem to be responding well.

Yes, I see the difference - these leaf footed bugs do not have a long snout for piercing other insects, like the Assassin bug does. Yet, they aren't bothering my Brug at all. I will monitor their activity, & see what they are eating- no damage so far. Thanks for your input, it's always great!

Shawn that might very well be what ST is. Many organic farmers treat virgin fields with molasses. The beneficial bacteria love it. I've tried molasses and raw sugar (one or the other) in container plants but in the soil, not as a foliar feed. I was afraid of making everything sticky when the water evaporated. You can get B1 online and it's very inexpensive.
