Actually, the ice plant is a different one. The bloom is similar, but the leaves are different. Isn't this commonly known as "apple something"??

Oops, sorry Karyn, you are right. This is an ice plant. I have always known the ice plant to have long, rounder (finger-like) leaves, and the one you have, I've known as Red Apple.

I love the lampranthus plants but i dont know if they will thrive in my zone. dont they hate water??

Everyone is selling that this year, but not labled with any useful info. "Basket filler" "ground cover" I didn't buy any because I really try to avoid annuals.

It's only a perennial in warm climates and won't survive a frost. Siam I think it would probably do well there. I've seen it growing all over parts of So. CA. It's not the same variety and the kind I saw was native (I assume). It was all over the cliffs around Big Sur.
