I have used ultra fine oil (sunspray oil is one brand) on brugs-use early in the AM, temp below 80 at 1% rate.
After about 30 minutes to one hour, you can rinse plant off.
Safe on foliage, but can mess up the blooms.
Will control many pests, such as spider mites, aphids, thrips, whitefly and more.
Considered to be very safe for people and pets. It is very highly refined oil, just like the 10W40 you put in the car.
The re-entry time is 4 hours, which is until the spray dries.
Suffocates them-how long can they hold their breath?
Have grown brugs for about close to 20 years now.

I can't stand using pesticides, even products like Neem but the Broad mites were impossible to control. I tried blasting with a hose, soapy water, neem, DE, etc and nothing worked so I finally gave in and used Forbid. I've found that to be the only think that works. At least it's fairly mite specific. It also only need be applied to one surface of the foliage and it contains an ovacide so repeat applications aren't necessary.

karyn....Can Forbid be applied to the soil? I just ordered Forbid on e-bay. As usual, can't find it in this "one horse" town. It's almost time to bring my plants in and most of the leaves have fallen off.

I can't help but wonder if I didn't have this problem last summer and that's why I lost 12 plants this spring when I brought them outside.

One one plant alone I found little red creepy crawlers as well as some clear crawlers.

Forbid is only for foliar application. Besides that Broad mites don't reside in the soil. You could probably treat with a granular systemic but for container plants I submerge the pots in a tub of soapy water for several hours or even overnight to kill off pests in the soil, if necessary. I honestly rarely do that since very few plants end up in my house. Almost all go into a greenhouse and I don't really care if there's creepy crawlies in there or not.
