What do do with shipped cuttings?

Received some Brug cuttings in in the mail as a trade, should I re-cut the ends off before I soak them to let them root, or just leave the ends cut as they are? One of the types is a double. I have heard they are harder to root. Any tips? I have rooted my own orange Brug several times last year, but I am still fairly new to this.

I would dip them in a rooting hormone and put them in soil, but that's me. No need to trim them if you put them in water. Just keep the water about an inch or so high on the cutting and change it every day to keep it fresh. Some brugs root well in water and others rot, that's why I use soil.
