You probably will not need your rooting hormone for Brugmansia. They root very well in water! especially the hard wood cuttings. Green cuttings have worked best for me in a light soiless mix, similar to what I use for seeds.

I am not the most experienced with Brugs, and others may offer you better tips. but this has worked for me the last two years.

Hi Diane,

Here in San Antonio I just take the cuttings and stick them in a pot of wet perlite and light potting mix. I put them in the shade and make sure they stay damp. You can also use water, but then you have to transfer to soil later. I don't use rooting hormone on brugs and definitely don't trim the stem or you will cut off the little nodes where the roots grow.

Don't worry if they wilt, that's normal. You can bring them inside, but keep them away from the A/C.

Thanks for the advice. I really appreciate it! Keeping my fingers crossed these will root fast outside since I will have to be bringing them in soon. Cooler weather is expected later on this next week in TX.

You won't need to bring them in for at least a few weeks. It looks like only the high 50's next week and I wait until it's in the mid 40's to bring them in. If it's only one cold night I just put them up next to the house and get a few more weeks outside.
