RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

thanks Shirley. I am shaking all over. My husband woke me and told me he is locked down on Ft. Hood. Turned on the news because they hear nothing. So 7 people dead. 12 wounded. 3rd shooter just started at the main PX where DH wanted to go before they locked everything down.

I PRAY that no one else gets hurt.

Called daughter in Orlando. She has workers on Post also from her work.

Oh please God, protect everyone!!

Lucy

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

Lucy, I'm shaking too. This is such bad news and still developing...

The PX? That's really scary, so many people would have been there at lunchtime. That's an attack on families and civilian employees.

((((hugs)))

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

So Sorry Lucy, praying all is well for you and your family
and all the others also! Great big Hugs hon.

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

oh Susan as long as hubby stays in his locked building...he is safe. It was all the other poor people in the way of the shooters that lost their lives or got wounded.

My heart just breaks for all of them and their families.

Shirley the horror is that they went to the ONE Place where the Soldiers go to get ready to deploy. Defending our Country.

Hubby is still locked up

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

My heart is breaking for the families, friends, and all of our military personnel. The base, here in our country, should have been the safest place in the entire world for our military.

Lucy, I have been praying for you, your H, and all of the others since I first saw the post at work this afternoon.

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

Amelia words can not really describe on how this makes your heart feel. There is just this emptiness for all the families that really need our prayers.

But just called hubby and they are continue to be under lock down.

It is so *normal* to worry about everyone close to you and you know that lives around here and has access to the Base, that they are safe.

So thank you everyone for worrying about us.

Hugs
Lucy

Wow, I haven't listened to or watched news yet today. Will turn on for 5 p.m. Lucy what's your connection to Ft. Hood? I guess I don't know much here. I do hope and pray for you and yours to be safe and protected.

Lucy,

Hopefully Hubby will be allowed to come home soon. At least he is in his office. I'm trying to imagine being stuck inside the Commissary for six hours.

Keep us posted,
Shirley

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

Diane as for me...I just go there to spend the money my hubby makes there.
My husband used to be in the Army too.

So like I said...please do not send prayers my way....they are needed so urgently for all the wounded people and the families of them and especially the ones that died.

I came on about 3:15, saw this post and didn't understand. I turned the TV on and was shocked beyond belief. Reread the post and my heart just about stopped dead. I am sooooo glad your husband is ok,even if he does have to stay put for awhile. At least he will be safe. I feel very heartbroken for the familys of the ones killed and the ones wounded.

Kim

ps. Free food :) That made me giggle too.

We watched this unfold on TV. Really unbelievable. It makes me very sad.

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

My friends it is a feeling that comes over you just as a outsider, so to speak. But being so close, that I hope no one has to go through.

Hubby says they are letting people leave by areas. So him being way out there...it will be a while and he is ok with it. There are a lot more folks that NEED to get HOME.

WHY do these things happen? :-(

Lucy, glad I was good for a laugh at such a time. After about three hours or so I'd wish I was at the Class VI store!

Well, I can see on the news that traffic is jammed up there, but it will be over soon and your hubby will be home.

All the best to you and yours,
Shirley

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

oh my God, the shooter is alive!!!

And it was just him. So I belief it is over and hopefully many people will get an answer why they had to loose their loved ones.

Lucy:
Thanks for the phone call to check on our safety. we decided to not go back on post when we left the cove. If we had we would just now be getting out.
again thanks for the concern. We hope you feel better tonight.

I'm relieved to hear that your DH is safe. I didn't see the news until late last night. Too bad the police didn't kill the bas*ard.

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

princealbert the STICK is bigger then some of my 2 year old brugs :-) I was SO HOPING that it is your white :-) THANKS.
Turned out that the rumors were flying so badly yesterday, that the shooting at the PX was one of them. Thank God. Because then we would have even talked children being in the way of this maniac.
After all was *safe* and no more shooting or other things that could have still happened, my headache was gone. Filled by emptiness. It is taking me 4FR this morning to come up with the right words.

HOW do you WRITE down this horror. The Sorrow. All the people directly involved, had to go through and will continue to have to live with when they think back to this day. How it changed their lives :-((

Karyn I believe that his punishment is going to be worse then the immediate death. Having died right there, would have been the easy way out for this man. Or?

Hubby works WAY out there on that huge Post...so he finally walked through the door little before 10pm. Tired but safe.

If it would not have been for this forum with all of you who care so much, I think I would have not made it passed the shaking and fear that filled my body.

You helped me with so much, even though there was no danger to ME OR MY HUBBY...but I always fear for all innocent lives being taken. And that was so close to home :-(

Hugs

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

I try to look at the better points. No children were killed. He used guns instead of bombs. There was only one shooter. It ended after hours instead of days or weeks. He was stopped. I know it's not much but it's something. I keept hearing on the news that Ft. Hood is the biggest base in the world. The whole mess could have been soooo much worse. I am also very happy that all my gardenweb buddies that are in Texas, or have family on that base are ok.

Hugs
Kim

RE: OT:Lucy... Just heard the news...

Lucy, glad your hubby was safe even though he was detained for several hours.

I am with Karyn on this. I strongly believe that had this maniac been shot, the sooner he would have been burning in hell. Being alive just means we will all be supporting him for the rest of his life while those victims left behind suffer their great loss.
