Can you identify this plant?

| Does anyone know what this plant is? It is growing next to a wall near the front door.
Lonny had been mowing it over untill I had him leave it alone because it didn't look like a weed, but like a plant.

eeeeuuuuuu!!!! oh yeah.... thats a plant alright! probably NOT one you want in your lawn though! Very pretty (extremely invasive) native violet! Every flower creates a million tiny seeds which are scattered across the lawn with alarming frquency from exploding seedpods!!! AAARRRRGGGGG!!! If you love them (and they are very pretty blooming in the grass) I will happily send you as many as you like! :O Have a great day! Frances

This is as big as it has gotten. I haven't seen a bloom yet. In the third picture, is that a bloom that hasn't opened? We have never had a violet before. Neat. Now we know we do. LOL. Kim

Dang. We must have missed them blooming, unless they can make seeds without blooming first. Thanks guys for the help. At least I have some more seeds now. I love seeds. LOL. It is fun to try and grow things. :-) Kim

lol! Kylie! yes even a humble little violet has its place (I do wish it wasn't my lawn, my flowerbeds, between the stones in my walk, popping out of the mulch, growing along the foundation, popping out EVERYWHERE!!!) I do love to see the little flowers in the grass but no matter how many you dig up there are always MORE!!!! (I wish some of my other plants were that resilient!) I have yellow, white and purple ones. Kim they will bloom again in spring! They seem to bloom twice here, spring and fall (don't care for the heat is my guess) You can dig up the plants and put them where ever you like, they are really very hardy ( :O )

I had those at my old house. They spread, but make a nice ground cover, IMO. I'm kind of a messy gardener anyway. Pam
