Frozen brugs

This is what the brugs in my backyard looked like yesterday morning. The ones out front didn't freeze. There's no real damage and the foliage would have been removed anyway.

The color is really off on some due to the cold. This Americam Pride, besides having a deformed bloom is cream with a little orange instead of being yellow and my Cherub stark white. The buds have been open for a feww days and don't even have a hint of pink.

This iochroma's color is the nicest it's been all season.

My stapelia is blooming again but the flower isn't too stinky this time and it's not crawling with flies. Thank goodness, no maggots. The last time it bloomed in Sept the flowers were full of maggots.

I'd say that lady luck was on your side and the brugs!!!

Tell me about the colors this fall. But that is ok. EAch and every single bloom makes my heart beat.

Now I really need to get me some Iochroma's with the WIDE bloom. Mine are all narrow. So far.

Karyn I really like the way the stapelia is hugging the rock. Also it is super that this time it brings you a lot more joy then the earlier ones.

Hi Karen, Yeah, got the frost twice here. Lost the leaves on the ones I couldn't bring in, and most of the green branches. But I hauled plenty enough in. Glad yours are fine.
I hardly had much color in the whole garden this year, I figured the whole garden needs a whole lot of limestone thrown in. And things didn't do half as good as last year, that I contribute to either 1)over watering (every second day) 2) not enough food - didn't do composting or much fertilizing this year - I never thought it would make that much of a difference or 3) both.

Your Stelia looks like an orchid to. Beautiful flowers you grow. I considered taking you up on the seeds for the others I lusted for, but I gave up trying to grow small seeds unless there's so many I can just toss them in the garden and hope I don't pull them out thinking they're weeds...lol But thank you anyway - Sandy

Karyn, glad you didn't have more damage than that. Love the iochroma. I got some seeds from ebay on that large one, but haven't received them yet. I first bidded not realizing they were seeds, duh.
