Oh Lucy, thanks for remembering! I was 32 hours on the go and have a little jetlag still. I'm worried about my 92 yr. old neighbor who is babysitting my Angel. I can't get ahold of her. Not only do I wish to see my Brug, but I fear that something might have happened to the lady. If I still can't get ahold of her son today, I will call the police. Glad to be back. It is a wonderful feeling to be in America, this is my home "sweet home". More later. - Ingrid.

Glad you made it back safely. My gosh that was a LONG TIME on the go :-( I sure hope the neighbor is ok!!!! It is so good to have people watch out for each other. Brug or no brug!!! Ok until later. I came online to find out more info about the shooting that went on in Orlando my DD just told me about. EIGHT more innocent people lost their lives. What a horrifying time right now. We need to pray for this to STOP!! Hugs Lucy

Oh there are not all 8 dead. Thank God. 6 are wounded. I am not sure if local news always tells you more then what you read on the internet or hear on national news. Just did not to leave out wrong information. Lucy

Ingrid, Did you get in touch with your neighbor or her family? Didn't see a follow up yet. Shirley

Shirley, and all of you caring people: I APOLOGIZE for not having updated. I sent Lucy an e-mail and should have contacted the forum as well. The neighbor's son called me last night after having listened to my messages on their answering machine. They had forgotten all about my return. He had taken his mother for a trip to Hawaii, his mother's 92nd birthday, and they are back now. It is now 8:30 AM here, and I will get my brug back this afternoon. The lady is well, and my worries are over. THANK YOU FOR CARING!!! Ingrid |

Thanks, Ingrid. Now I'm smiling just thinking of a 92 year old and her son living it up in Hawaii for a birthday party. How fun is that? That's great to hear everything is going well. I used to live in SoCal and this is the best time of year there.

Ingrid, read your other post about now having your brug back home. Hope you had a fantastic time in Germany, and when you've recouped sufficiently, we want to see pictures :-)

Ingrid glad to have you back. I for one enjoy this Texas fall. It is very nice this year. Do not miss the cold at all. I remember the 1st winter as a mailman. That was 2 month after I had left here and was not used to WINTERS anymore. Still do not know how I ended up as a mailman. Because I had NO skills. Especially riding their bikes. ON SNOW. Oh my gosh what a time that was. Funny thing is, you get used to almost everything and I loved my job. Rain, sunshine or snow. Ingrid how often do you go back to Germany? Lucy

Thank you all for your comments. I enjoyed them. I know this is totally OT, but in answer to Lucy's question I have to say this: This probably was my last trip to Germany. My sister came here and stayed 6 months each year for 10-12 years, and when she turned 80 she said:"now its YOUR turn." So I went each year for the last 6 years, until she got Alzheimers. That was last year, I took care of her for 8 months and finally put her in a home. I couldn't do it anymore. Then she passed away. This last trip was a working trip to settle my sister's affairs. I have no relatives left there, just a few friends. And I said my good-byes. My love for Brugs originated with my sister, who had a couple. It was in her memory that I purchased one here, my one and only Angel - (for lack of space to put more!) I've lived in the USA for 45 years, and this is my home by choice. I love this country, I became a citizen, and raised my kids here. GOD BLESS AMERICA! Ingrid.

Oh Ingrid, what a sweet story and such a special person you are. And now we know why this brug is so important to you. ((hugs)) Shirley

Now you have me crying. What a touching story. Your sister luckily did not have to live with Alzheimers to long. It takes everything out of you and anybody who ever cared for someone with Alzheimers in the Family, knows that. We all try, but at one point it is just saver for the patient to be in 24/7 care. Now we know how special this angel REALLY is to you! Thanks Ingrid for sharing this loving story with us Hugs Lucy
