The pics wouldn't load all the way but what I could see of that fungus looked really pretty, almost like a flower.

Good morning all. Lucy, I have never seen such a beautiful mushroom! We only get the dark ones or very small ones. Anyway, I too was trying to figure if it was a marigold, but didn't understand what that piece of wood (now I see it's a tree trunk) was doing next to the "marigold", LOL!

Chantrelles (sp)- they grown sometimes along our driveway in Spring or Fall. We had a few this year.
They are a gourmet mushroom---look online for recipes.

This is a great find, if you can bring yourself to eat such beauty! Because it has been so cold, these mushrooms should be clear of bugs and larvae!!!

I don't think that these are chanterelles (in German: Pfifferlinge). I think they are those huge, hard fungi that mostly grow on a tree trunk. -
Well, we'll find out sooner or later, won't we?

Ingrid thanks for translating. They are for sure a LOT BIGGER then Chantrelles. Oh my gosh I would be in mushroom heaven I HAD so many of them. Heck one can grow as big as a dinnerplate!

I just had to do it. I am not sure who gets to see that advertisement for gosh knows what...the only thing that really stuck with me was them making smiley faces out of all sorts of things.
