They shouldn't have been pollinated...

DH talked me into letting some brugs flower in the garage. He set up some HID lights for the over flow of plants from the greenhouse and stuck a number of brugs in there. There must be something flying around in there because I just found new pods on Sam, Double L'Amour, an unknown single peach, plus 2 more pods on Super Spot. I'm getting better pollination in the garage then outside. lol Maybe there's moths in there because I haven't seen anything when the lights are on.

Does anyone know if B. arborea can be pollinated by something other then another brug in the Sphaerocarpium group? I do believe that arborea is one of the very few that can self but I haven't had any pods yet.

Aren't you the lucky one!!! LOL I have never been able to Sam to root!!

Kylie I got the Sam cutting from Mike several years ago and it's still a small plant, about 2.5' but blooms well. It's never been cut back and hasn't even gone dormant the past two years because of seed pods. If I repotted it in a bigger container I'm sure it would grow some but I think this is one of the smallest brugs. I'll try to root a cutting for you.

Thanks I appreciate that I know I have killed a couple of cuttings!!! I may have an extra Chelsea if they make it thru the Winter if ya want one..

Karyn, arborea can only be pollinated within the Sphaerocarpium group, but they are one of the few that is commonly self fertile. :)

Karyn, if you prefer not to cut your Sam yet, I can try to root a cutting for Kylie. Mine is about 4.5 ' tall. Let me know.
