I usually buy mine at Harbor Freight- it's called Surveyor's tape. I really like using cut up window blinds too, they make it so easy to quickly read them at a glance. And you can get so many from 1 blind! I especially use these in the gardens!

You can also use one that's sold in garden shops. It's pretty much the same thing but is green and not as wide, about 1/2". I think it's called tree tape but make sure it's the non adhesive stuff. What's nice is that both are stretchy and won't girdle the stems as they grow.

Yes- Karyn's right- be careful what you use- I accidentally let the tape slip below the soil line when I planted a few, and they did girdle the trunks and killed one plant. At first the plant started wilting, so I watered it more. When after a few weeks, I decided to dig up around the stem and saw that the tape was literally cutting off the circulation of the trunk and rotting it. I had to cut the plant down but I was able to make many more cuttings of it. I'm living and learning!
