Butterfly Garden

Butterfly eggs?

I found these eggs on a Spicebush, but I believe spicebush swallowtails lay their eggs singly on the underside of leaves, so that rules them out. They were originally all pale green (the corner photo). Now the eggs are gone -- I'm sure whatever hatched ate the shells. Maybe they're not even butterfly eggs, but that's my best guess. Anybody recognize them?

Wow! That picture is fabulous!
Unfortunately, I have no idea what they are. They're probably some sort of moth, but with moths being much less plant specific, the fact that they're on spicebush doesn't really mean much.
Wish you could have raised them - then you'd know! :)

I found a website that said these are bean leaf beetles, and apparently they can be destructive. I never saw them though. Maybe they're destroying my spicebush roots.
