If we had a state hairstreak, it'd have to be the red-banded - they're everywhere!

Those are the cutest looking hairstreaks. I just love that wide red band :o) Very distinctive!!!

Most of we see down here are grays.

I've been searching in vain for about a month now for a Red Banded Hairstreak! We had many reports of them here. I was told to look along coastal areas with native sumac, but no luck!

They sure are beautiful. I guess I'll have to come down to Miss. to see one!

Emma, if you want to see them, their favorite nectar plants in my garden have been garlic chives (blooms late), aster tartaricus, and lavendar.
