Didn't know where to ask anyone about this and found this place on Google.

A couple of weeks before Christmas I accidentally knocked a chrysalis off a patio chair.I picked it up and brought it inside as it was the only safe place to put it,placed it on a soft cloth in an open container.

Up until 2 days ago it was bright green.

Yesterday,when I looked,it had turned a kinda light beige colour.

Today it was a darker beige/brown colour but still fairly light

I've just looked again and spotted the actual larvae making its way out. It is now fully out and very slowly making its way across the cloth.

I can only assume it will die as it is a proper larvae rather than being in caterpillar form :(

I feel quite sad.

What on earth has caused this? Why has it come back out? Surely if something was wrong it would just die in there or does it not realise it hasn't changed? (Sorry if that's a really stupid question)

I just have this weird white blob crawling along in the tub now and I'm not sure what to do
