A couple summers ago, one early morning while walking through our vegie garden I found this dewy butterfly, had to go get my camera, of course. It was so full of dew, it could not fly away so I was able take alot of shots.

What was the sequence of events? I think the butterfly would have been on that perch during the entire dew-forming process, an odd place to roost, unless it managed to fly from the actual roost straight to the kale while water-logged.

This was very early morning like just as the sun rose, I can only guess the butterfly was there overnight resting.

It could not have flown like that all dewy, I was there for quite awhile taking photos and got pretty close, close enough that it would have flown away if it could. I am sure the butterfly had been there all night.

That's one of the coolest pictures I've ever seen!

Perhaps the previous evening got suddenly cool and the butterfly was caught out in the open, reluctant or unable to fly.

Thank you so much for your very nice comments, I could not believe my luck in seeing this butterfly and having the chance/time to photograph it.
