Swamp Milkweed - extending its life

Posted by butterflyman 5 (My Page) on

Here in St. Louis, we find it hard to keep Swamp Milkweed alive for very long. Even though it is supposed to be a perennial, after a couple of years it may not come back.

Does anyone have any tips for keeping this milkweed alive for a longer period of time?

My suggestion is to start from seed every year. I also hear it starts well from cuttings. You can also augment with other Milkweed species.

It does start easily from cuttings........just put in water and wait for the roots. Then just plant it.
