What I like about Purple Milkweed

This is becoming one of my favorite milkweeds. The leaves are nice-sized to feed the caterpillars, and the Monarchs do lay eggs on this plant. It colonizes to form a large clump. And, lastly, if the gophers get the main plant, new ones come up from the root system.

Last year, the gopher attacked my huge Purple MW. I took the remnants and put them in a pot. I now have two pots. There wasn't much root left, but the pieces managed to survive. And I have numerous small plants coming up where the large plant was.

The flowers on this MW are also quite beautiful.

I recommend this plant to anyone wanting to grow perennial MW.
